Greetings folks, I'm in confusion here.
Today I was playing EVE as usual, and in the local channel a person gave some salvaging offer or whatever nearby. I told him I don't trust him since he had 12 million of a bounty on his head.
So another person comes in and tells me it doesn't matter, I reply by saying that he must've done something to get a bounty that high.
Anyway, the second guy doesn't like my reply and places 55 Million on my head. I asked him why and he replied "It's hilarious" even though I didn't reply with anger, swearing or anything.
I reentered the channel just some minutes later and everyone started shouting "There he is! Everyone bounty Alex!" so now I got 58 Million, maybe higher on my head for no reason. Never asked for it to begin with. But that's not the issue.
How do I lose this bounty? I just started the game and it's frustrating to know that people will want to suicide gank me maybe or do something. If I seem stupid here, sorry but I need help.
My friend says to just make a new character but I don't think that's a good choice.
Thank you. |

Thank you. Don't sweat having a bounty. I'm currently sitting at a billion bounty and I sleep just fine at night. Bounties aren't a free pass to kill you on sight. They're simply a reward for other players who happen to be in a position to kill you. They would've killed you regardless if they had the ability, but now they get a small chunk of change for doing so. It's not much, only about 30% of what your ships worth is awarded to your assailant should he manage to pop your ship. After I believe 3 months, a bounty placed on you that hasn't been claimed gets refunded back to the person who started it. You should be fine regardless. Don't let this bother you because more than likely it will have zero effect on your play style.
I don't know, I don't want to grind and mine for days, get a good ship and get destroyed in a half second because some guy wasn't even aware that he won't get the whole bounty.
I understand EVE is a harsh game and I appriciate that but I would just like to go around without 58 million on my head , it lightens the heart so to say. |

Of course posting here got me up to 82 million by people from the thread.
Necessearly speaking, I'm not upset or angry. Just wondering what consequences this will have on the long term for me and how to get rid of those consequences and focus on other things.
I'm not trolling, the wikipedia didn't explain the bounty system very well and I didn't know you could bounty someone randomly anywhere. Because at first that seemed like a broken mechanic but someone in the Rookie Help channel told me it was true.
I got confused about the kill rights and everything so most people started assuming I was trolling, I've been getting hate mail and stuff like that. Don't know why, again as I mentioned I'm not angry, I just want to know what the bounty will mean for me on the long run.
Thanks for the help o/ |

Otherwise it means absolutely nothing, no one will hunt you for that bounty, no one can legally touch you in Empire for that bounty.
Thanks for the helpful input then |

Vincent Athena wrote:Indahmawar Fazmarai wrote:Alexander Bjorvisk wrote:(...)
How do I lose this bounty?(...) Just unsub for 3 months and it will be refunded to the guys who put it on you. Feel free to start a second account to keep playing while the first one cools down, and once they send you a come back offer, take it and play for 10 euros a month. It's a win-win situation! If you got his route: When you unsub the unsub page asks you why. Be sure to give the reason as "wanting to clear an unwanted bounty". Another note: When you get blown up the bounty payout is based on the "Pend Insurance value" of what got blown up. As far as I know there is no way of finding this value for any item other than blowing it up. Its not the market value, and its been made resistant to manipulation. But..... There are ebbs and flows in the market, prices climb and fall all on their own without the need for you to manipulate them. Thus there are items that, at times, can be bought well under the Pend insurance estimate. Find such items, load them in your ship, and get a corp mate to pop you. I have made a (pathetically small) profit this way. No I'm not telling you what items. They change week to week, so do your research. Also you can usually make far more money re-selling the same items.
The bounty is 133 million, I planned to get rid of it with the help of a friend.
I simply don't like being an attention ***** and getting huge bounties on my head, nor do I like bounty hunting. It's not my thing.
Regarding your post, are you saying I should fit really expensive modules on my ship and let a friend blow it up?

Maybe stop crying about things that don't matter, then.
Not crying what so ever, I just don't like getting attention. The bounty bothers me no longer. But for whatever reason you feel like insulting me .. Well I don't know. |

Angelique Duchemin wrote:Alexander. You have played Eve for one week and you are already one of the most wanted men in the Galaxy. People could suicide gank you for a year and profit from it. Bounty hunters will be after you once you move up to higher quality ships
If I was you. I would use this as a springboard into piracy. You can't live in high sec with that bounty.
One of the most wanted? I don't think so.
Nobody has bothered me this far, in hisec or close to lowsec. I won't become a pirate just because of some random bounty spam on me.
Most people I bump into have a decent bounty or higher than me, so quite honestly it can't be that big of a deal.
I can lose my bounty if I wanted to in warfare, one of the EVE University members told me once I join EVE University I will lose it at the speed of light. Apparently they're wardecced constantly.
And if people want to come after me in Hisec, so be it. There is CONCORD and there is also all of the money I have in my wallet to replace my normal loadout atleast 90 times. |

Solstice Project wrote:Dear OP ... i must advise you not to listen to most of these people, because they have no idea what they are talking about.
Like ... people telling you that your bounty doesn't make a difference.
It does, trust me. If i see you with 83 Million ISK bounty, i'll try to blow you up and then try get your pod too. I just need to see you at the right time at the right place and you're mine. And i don't actually care if it's profitable or not, i just do it because you're there.
All those morons in this thread telling you that it doesn't matter, or that pods don't give bounty ... hahahahaha, trust me, they do. I know better, because i shoot them.
Listen to me. I know wtf i am talking about, because i *do* what i'm talking about.
Your bounty will more likely get you killed. The higher, the better. It lowers the bar.
If i see a guy in a hauler, vulnerable, i shoot him and see if he pops. If i see a guy in a hauler, vulnerable and with bounty, i make *sure* he pops. And his pod, of course.
Same goes for a frigate. Destroyers. Pods. Low skilled genius in a cruiser ? Dies too.
And your last post just stinks from ignorance. You've listened to the wrong people in this thread. It only takes ONE guy to make your life miserable all day long and coming up with crap like "all of the money i have in wallet to replace my blabla" will just attract them, to relieve you from your money.
The voices of many outnumber your argument, and so does my personal experience.
As much as I want to belive that it will do something, it hasn't done anything to me. If anything I've made more friends and they've actualy mined with/for me and given me millions.
If you are a bounty hunter, that's cool. EVE has a place for every type of gameplay style welcome. It's a big Universe.
I'm not ignorant because I genuinely was worried from the begining, now not so much. |

Read the thread again, maybe you'd understand I'm no longer bothered.
You cannot expect people as new as me to know everything about PvP in EVE and anything related to that.
It takes time to learn and this small week I've played in, I've learned a bit. |
